Other People’s Kids

Whoa, hold on. Two in one day?

This is just a quick note to say that, and please forgive me, I was on YouTube and there was one of those feedbacky things. Sometimes it’s a “what did you think of this video” sort of thing. But this one said, “How would you feel if a kid watched this?” – for the record, it was The Jetson’s Intro because yesterday I woke up with that theme song stuck in my head for some reason (it’s the For All Mankind effect, probably).

Anyway, how would I feel if a kid watched that? Darling, I wouldn’t care one jot. I don’t have a kid. It’s not my job to have opinions on what other people’s kids watch on YouTube. It’s their job? I think this is a real problem that I don’t want to get too much into right now. But this thing where everybody but parents are supposed to be responsible for parenting children so that parents don’t have to spend time with their children, because otherwise they wouldn’t be able to go to work to feed the capitalist machine, is so much a problem of the time we’re living in.
