Early Thoughts: For All Mankind

I’ve been watching For All Mankind recently. I actually started because I watched Star City and really liked it. I didn’t know the two shows were related. I guess when I first learned about For All Mankind, it was a few seasons into the show. I had the impression from whatever promo it was I saw that the show was about rich people. And so, I just didn’t care about watching it. But after watching Star City, I became intrigued.

I’ve just started the third season and I’ll say this. The first season really got me. It was exciting and I thought really well done. I’m an absolute bastard for space travel. I don’t know if I’d kill to go to space, but I’d definitely maim. Anyway, the first season really got me. So I watched the second. And the second season…well, I didn’t like it as much. I still watched it, but I didn’t feel so good about it. I’m not quite sure what it is about it, but the vibe of the show feels really network television-y to me…very “Thursday, at 9pm, on ABC.” But I kept watching it.

Now, as I say, I’ve just started the third season and…it feels like it’s Thursday, 9pm, on ABC. I suppose the overarching story is interesting enough to keep me involved, but there are a few of the minor characters and arcs that are just bleh. I do a lot of fast-forwarding, I’ll tell ya that for free.

Anyway, just some thoughts because I decided I might write my thoughts down more. Is it good to do that? I don’t know. Maybe I’m looking for a project and this will give me one. Or maybe it’ll give me an excuse to redesign (“design” lol) this website. I don’t know.

Have a nice life.
