Just a thought

Sometimes I open a text file to record a thought, but by the time I’ve started writing I get bogged down in figuring out the best way to articulate the thought that I’ve had. And sometimes, this takes so long that I simply lose the original thought completely.

For instance, this post here started as a thought about the sort of person who says things like, “In my day we did it this way, and we all turned out fine.” But that’s not what this is about anymore. Interestingly, it looks like maybe I’ve regained a handle on what the original thought was. Should I now delete all of this and re-write something about that original thought? Or should I just leave this as is? Should I change it, but not make it about the original thought? Should I continue typing right now about this?

I can’t imagine what it might be like to be the sort of person who is reading this final sentence. Bless your fortitude, friend.
